I am a personal trainer, specializing in instructing kettlebell and suspension trainer technique. I am also an outdoor athlete and love sharing my passion for the outdoors with others. When not training, I run Engearment.com - an outdoor gear review website focused on hiking, camping, skiing, snowboarding, and fitness. We work with major brands such as Patagonia, Fjallraven, North Face and Arcteryx to provide honest gear reviews (and a little R&D). I spend 150+ days a year in the mountains, training, hiking, splitboarding and camping. Heck, I wrote the book on Splitboarding! (seriously - it is on Amazon) I love teaching others how to move well, feel great and enjoy life :)

I have spent the last decade learning from the very best fitness instructors in the world. From TRX and FMS, to StrongFirst and IKFF for kettlebells and KIPS for mace. I am on the advisory board for National Personal Trainer Institute and am NSCA certified as well. As far as mountain safety goes, I am AIARE level 2, Rescue and First Aid/AED certified. It is my life mission to help others embrace fitness and have fun outside. And yes, I do carry kettlebells and suspension trainers in my 4Runner at all times and train at elevation (10k or higher) several times a week.

When not in the mountains, I train at a private gym I built in a law firm (Brownstein Hyatt Farber Schreck). I actually worked there for 15 years, so I can relate to the "weekend warrior" and the overworked, middle aged person. I feel ya, I really do. I also train out of Push Gym in Denver, alongside a great staff of awesome trainers and physical therapists. Working alongside therapists has help me build the "rehabilitation" part of this course.

Lastly, obesity and lifestyle choices are very near and dear to me. My parents and siblings were all morbidly obese, had disabilities and I had been responsible for taking care of all of them. My younger brother died of a heart attack at age 21. This motivated me to leave the law firm and pursue helping others with their health. My sister developed terminal brain cancer 3 years ago. As I took care of her and watched her basic human functions leave, it gave me an even stronger desire to go out and help others with their fitness and help them improve their quality of life. My parents both developed terminal pancreatic cancer in the last year as well. This all helped reinforce my dedication to appreciating life.

So, in losing my siblings and parents, I have gained a strong desire to help others embrace life, take care of themselves, move well and often and get outside. It is my absolute pleasure to teach you how to use kettlebells, TRX and your own body to get the most out of life.
